Hands-on activities

Picture
The study of science largely deals with aspects of life we cannot see with the human eye. With the help of microscopes, scientists have made fantastic discoveries about the minute processes of our world. To help visualize these tiny mechanisms, students will build models and use manipulatives to interact with the information.

LabORATORIES

Picture
Inquiry through hands-on laboratory experience comprises a large portion of the biology curriculum this year. Students will become scientists and investigate various topics through experimentation. Lab work is then followed by a written lab report that outlines their analysis of the results.

Presentations

Picture
A critical life skill is the ability to convey knowledge and experience to others. Scientists, for example, publish lab reports and give presentations on their findings. This year students will do the same, practicing their public speaking skills through frequent oral presentations (guided by their self-made PowerPoint, poster, or other display medium).
